Mangalore, Mar 8: St Aloysius College celebrated 134th college day on Friday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest J R Lobo said, “Education forms a strong foundation and makes students valuable people for the society. There are millions in our country who are deprived of education. Education must be available to all. And the ones who receive education must make the best use of the opportunity. It is not just intelligence that make people successful but determination. Quality education is that which shapes a student’s goal and helps in contributing to the country. Consistency in practice is the best way to achieve success in life. ”

In his presidential address, Rev Fr Denzil Lobo SJ said “Reinvent yourself and invent the future. Jesuit education believes in forming men and women for society. We need to look at the problem with a new dimension.”

Dr A M Narahari, Convernor said “134th college day symbolizes the youthful ambition, the passionate dreams and the undying spirit of the institute to impart quality education to millions of students every passing year.”

George Rodrigues, Co Convenor, Ponnanna NT, President, Students council were present on the occasion.

Cultural and entertainment programme was one of the highlights of the college day.

Veera gaase of Uttara kannada, Lavani of Maharastra, Laasya Lahari a treatise on the life of Lord Krishna, semi-classical and western dances were performed by the students of the college. The college day was attended by the guests, staff, the students and their parents.
