MANGALORE: After a long gap of 13 years, the National Book Trust, India (NBT) will organize a mega book fair at Nehru Maidan here from January 4 to January 12.

The NBT is an apex body under the ministry of human resource development, department of higher education, Government of India.

The book fair will be inaugurated by District in charge minister B Ramanath Rai, who is also minister of forest, ecology and environment on Saturday at Nehru Maidan at 5 pm, said founder of World Konkani Centre Basti Vaman Shenoy. Mangalore South MLA JR lobo will preside.

Around 40 publishers and book sellers from all over India will be taking part in NBT Mangalore book fair. The total number of stalls will be up to 60.

Apart from the exhibition-cum-sale of books by publishers from various parts of the country, the book fair will showcase a range of literary events and children’s activities. The fair has been organised in collaboration with Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation, Vishwa Konkani Kendra.
