Mangaluru, April 07, 2023: Despite Congress releasing its two lists of official candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections, it is yet to announce candidates for Mangaluru South, North and Puttur.

Meanwhile, it has been gathered that former MLA J R Lobo is all likely to get the ticket for Mangaluru South constituency which he had represented once in the past. It is learnt former MLC Ivan D’Souza and Billawa leader Padmaraj Karkera too are keen to contest from this constituency.

However, sources revealed that the high command is likely to field J R Lobo in the prestigious Mangaluru South Constituency.

Lobo had earlier won the constituency in 2013, but lost to Vedavyas Kamath in the 2018 election.

An experienced bureaucrat turned politician, Lobo hopes to win this time if the party chooses to field him.

Meanwhile, in Mangaluru North, former MLA Moidin Bava and KPCC General Secretary Inayat Ali are vying for the party ticket. Bava had recently even convened a press meet to exude confidence that the party would choose him as the candidate.
