Mangaluru, Dec 15: Large crowds gathered at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday December 14 to witness a fascinating Christmas mobile show by NGO White Doves.
The colourful show aptly titled ‘2014 Year Old Fact in a Mobile Act’ depicted the life and times of St Francis of Assisi and Jesus Christ.
Addressing the gathering Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo said, “When Christmas comes, it is time for celebration. White Doves is showing us the real meaning of Christmas. Jesus Christ was born to spread peace amongst us.
“Those who beleive in Jesus should spread the word of God. Christmas means nothing but spreading the message of Jesus Christ. Those who celebrate Christmas are all the followers of Jesus,” he added.
“White Doves is following the footsteps of Christ and let us also do the same,” he said.
White Doves has been presenting mobile street shows in many places over the last 20 years.
Under the leadership of Corrine Rasquinha, founder president of White Doves, and Vitus Rasquinha, trustee, more than 150 artistes rendered a stupendous performance and won the hearts of the crowd.
This was the culmination of four shows held this Christmas, with the earlier ones being held at Fr Muller Grounds, Kankanady on December 11, United Basel Mission Jubilee Church Grounds, Udupi on December 12, and Kolalgiri on December 13. All of them saw great success with huge crowds turning up.
