Mangaluru, Nov 27: MLA J R Lobo on Sunday, November 27 said that all steps will be taken for the protection and conservation of freshwater lakes in the district.

He was addressing media after inaugurating two lakes at Jeppinamogaru, Taradolya. The project is worth Rs 50 lac.
“The government gives top priority for the conservation of lakes. Mangaluru city is growing and developing rapidly.

Hence, the government has planned many new projects. To provide clean and healthy water, the district administration has planned the development of eight new lakes,” he said.

The MLA showed concern over water bodies being converted into garbage dumping yards and target for encroachments. He said that all water bodies, be it private or public property, have to be protected. He called for spreading proper awareness on the same.

Sadananda Alva, Tardolya temple administrator, Vijaya Kumar Shetty, former MLA, Umesh Chandra, Bhujanga Shetty, U Karunakara Shetty, and Praveen Chandra Alva, corporator were present.
