Mangalore, Oct 14: In view of providing some fun to the differently abled children, Mangalore South MLA J.R. Lobo, has planned for a unique play area for them at Kadri Park, in the city.
“Rs 15 lac has been sanctioned from the MLA fund for this purpose,” Lobo said on Tuesday.
Kala Deepak, mother of a differently abled kid, who put forth this thought before the MLA said, “I thought even special children deserve fun and happiness. Being a parent of such a kid, I know the trauma and the pain
the children go through as they are kept isolated from the society. The MLA certainly deserves applauds for making my dream come true. ”
Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Mahabala Maarla said, “As the special children will not be able to engage in recreational activities with the equipments installed for normal kids, specially designed equipments
will be put in place for the blind and handicapped children among others, thus ensuring that the children do not get injured while playing.”
The project has been assigned to Architect Venkatesh Pai and is likely to be open in three months.
