Mangalore, 25 May 2014: PWD minister Dr H C Mahadevappa on Saturday May 24 laid the foundation for widening the linking road from Ullal in Mangalore to Mani in Bantwal at Tokkottu junction here on Saturday May 24.

 The route has witnessed unprecedented traffic blocks as there are many educational institutions and hospitals in addition to IT park along this stretch of route.

 The distance between Ullal to Mani is 26 kilometers while the widening work will be undertaken on a stretch of 15 kilometers. The total cost has been estimated to be Rs 6.5 crore in this regard. The state government has released Rs. 1.5 crore and the central government has already released Rs 5 crore, said PWD minister Dr Mahadevappa while speaking to media persons.

The minister Dr Mahadevappa further said, the road would be extended up to 1 meter on either side and asphalted. Subsequently, it will be converted into a four lane road. At present, there are 7 bus stops between Ullal and Mani which will be renovated. Kuthar, Natekal and Asaigoli junctions too will be developed, said minister Dr Mahadevappa.

 Ullal – Mastikatte road development

 Earlier, the minister viewed the development work which is being carried out on Ullal – Mastikatte road. The work is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore. According to the proposed plan, a stretch of 400 meters will be concreted and another 500-meter stretch will be asphalted.

 The health minister U T Khadar, MLA J R Lobo, DCr A B Ibrahim, local leaders and others were present on the occasion.
