Mangalore,Aug 29,2014: The MLA of Mangalore South Constituency JR Lobo has instructed the Horticulture Department officials to clean the Kadri Park within a week.
He along with Mayor of the Mangalore City Corporation(MCC) Mahabala Marla had paid a visit to the Kadri Park to assess the condition of the park today.
Addressing the reporters he said “The park has not been maintained properly. Hundreds of people come to this park and take the benefit. I have instructed the horticulture dept. officials to clean the park within a week. I will also convene a meeting with the Dc regarding the same”
“We have asked the state government to sanction one crore for the development of the park and this year fice lakh rupees have been already released.”
“There is a proposal to have the fountain to the park and a proposal of 4 crores has been already sent out of out of which two crores have been already sanctioned. “ he added.
Mayor Mahabala Marla who spoke to the media persons later said ”As the MLA said the condition of the park is really poor. This park was the pride of the city. The toy train that was the asset of the corporation is scrapped. The corporation does not have the file of the train and no one knows where exactly it is now.”
“It is a bad notion that any young couple who come to the park is assumed to have come with different intentions. Twice in a day the police along with the lady police visit the park and inspect the activities. People should come to the park and take the benefit of it.”
Horticulture department staff were present at the occasion.
