The MLA added that Rs 1000 crore to be released during the first phase of smart city project will be used as a seed money to develop the basic facilities, in turn to attract investments for further projects.

A concept paper, based on the opinion of the public, will be prepared by the consultants appointed by the government and the paper will be analysed by independent consultants at the Centre. Hence the concept paper plays a vital role in the planning of smart city, he said and requested people not to complain just about problems but to contribute ideas which are focused on better investment opportunities.

However later during the meet, the participants elaborately put forth civic problems one after the other.

Some of the suggestions were to provide alternate facilities to street vendors, to develop parks in vacant government lands, to develop parking complexes in the city, to introduce mono trains, to take measures to bring IT companies to the city, to build smart traffic control system, to impose smart city cess, to implement a more effective waste management system, construction of ring roads, formation of a separate team to look into infrastructure needs of the city and so on.
