Mangaluru, Apr 20: Former MLA J R Lobo filed his nomination papers for the upcoming legislative assembly elections from Mangaluru South constituency here on Thursday April 20.

Before filing the nomination, Lobo offered pooja rituals and took blessings at Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara temple in the presence of party representatives and supporters.

Later, a large number of people gathered for a procession from Kudroli temple to Mangaluru City Corporation office where Lobo filed his nomination.

Prior to submitting the nomination papers, Lobo visited religious centers like church, temple and mosque.

After filing the nomination, speaking to media Lobo said, “Development of the city is my priority. After Bengaluru, Mangaluru is a well-developed city. The youth of the city should get employment. Irrespective of caste and religion, people should live in harmony. I will work to protect the principles of the Indian Constitution. All people should lead a peaceful life. Investors should come forward to invest in the city-based projects through which youth will get employment. Also, it will prevent the youth from going out of the city in search of jobs. If elected, I will also work to maintain the law and order situation in the city.”

Congress leader Ivan D’Souza, Shashidhar Hegde, Bhaskar Moily and others were present.
