Mangalore, August 18:A call to Christians to build up their relationships with people from other community and lay emphasis on harmonious coexistence was given by the Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. He inaugurated a symposium on ‘Mangalore Diocese – stepping towards new direction’ and addressed the audience which was held at Rosario Cultural Hall on Sunday August 17th.
Fr Faustine Lobo, director of National Pontifical Mission, provided information on the areas through which the diocese can move forward. MLA, J R Lobo, who was the chief guest, called upon the community members to be ready and enthusiastic in serving different areas including politics.
MLC, Ivan D’Souza, explained about the rights and responsibilities of Christians. Secretary of the parish council of the diocese, M P Norohna, who organized the symposium, was honoured in this occasion.
Advocate M P Noronha on addressing the audience, said he was glad to see the various church representative of Mangalore diocese. He lauded Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza for his vast contribution over the past 18 years, especially in the field of education.
The programme was started with prayer dance. Fr Joseph Martis compered the programme. In the gathering, Parish priest of Rosario Church and secretary of Laymen Commission Fr J B Crasta, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino, vicar general of Mangalore diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu and public relations officer Fr William Menezes were seen.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Victoria D’Cunha and John Edward D’Silva hosted the program.
