Mangalore: Karavali Utsav, Mangalore annual fair was inaugurated on Sunday, January 13 at Lalbagh.

Fr. Prashant Madtha, Former principal of St Aloysius College and writer inaugurated the formal programme along with other dignitaries. MLA J R Lobo presided over the function and B Ramanath Rai, District in charge and minister for forests and ecology inaugurated the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA J R Lobo said, “Karavali Utsav should be celebrated on grand scale like the Goa Carnival and Gujarat Kite Festival”.

Fr Prashant Madtha said, Mangalore is a unique place with multi language and culture. It gives immense pleasure to be a proud Mangalorean.”

B Ramanath Rai in his speech said that “Being of education, economy, tradition and culture Mangalore holds a special place in the country. Annual fairs like this attract visitors in large number”.

ADC Dayanand K, Pradeep Kalkura, Mohiuddin Bava, Ajith Hegde, MCC commissioner, A B Ibrahim, deputy commissioner and others were present.
