MANGALORE: Mangalore City South MLA JR Lobo said a revised proposal of Rs 4.5 crore has been submitted to the state government for the construction of a music fountain at Kadri Park in the city.

Interacting with media persons after visiting the park along with mayor Mahabala Marla and officials on Thursday, Lobo said he has directed the officials of horticulture department to clear weeds at Kadri Park and make it attractive within a week. Lobo said that a meeting will be held at the deputy commissioner’s office on August 31 to discuss about development of Kadri Park.

As per a proposal announced in January this year, a musical fountain was planned on 1.25 acres of land at old deer park of Kadri Park at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.30 crore. Lobo said the work of music fountain will commence soon after the revised proposal with an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 crore is approved by the government.

On the defunct toy train, the MLA said that he will hold discussion with Dakshina Kannada District Balbhavan Society that has been authorized to maintain it. “A meeting of all department officials concerned will be held to discuss about development of the park. We have plans to develop the park road by constructing commercial complexes,” Lobo said adding that the government will sanction funds for the development works.
