Mangaluru, 14 Apr 2015: Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo visited Pilikula Nisargadhama, Vamanjoor, here on Monday April 13 from 9.30am to 1.00pm, to review the ongoing development works.

Pilikula Nisargadhama director Prabhakar Sharma, the officers of various departments and MUDA chairman Mohammed Nazir were present.

Entrance Block

Addressing the media persons, MLA Lobo said the first phase of entrance block undertaken @ Rs 1.25 crore under union ministry of tourism destination development project will be completed by October 2015. The entrance block will have ticket counters, locker room, rest rooms etc, besides parking facility for 400 vehicles. The road will be developed from entrance block to administrative office through museum, complete with footpath and landscape will be developed with plants that are widely found in Western Ghats, said MLA Lobo.

Development of lake

The vacant land lying opposite of museum will be developed to have a lake by MUDA @ Rs 30 lac. The landscape will be developed with lush greenery around the lake, added MLA Lobo.

Lead garden project

The funds are being expected from union government to the tune of Rs 1.44 crore for the development of Pilikula Nisargadhama by developing the landscape with the concept of Western Ghats. It will be utilized to nurture 2,500 medicinal plants of 40 different species and 230 rare plants and endangered 50 species, besides to plant additional plants. Additional funds will be sought from medicinal plant Board and NMPT in this regard, said MLA Lobo.

3D Planetarium

Nearly 60 percent of construction of 3D Planetarium has been already completed, while the tenders will be floated to source the scientific equipments. It will be ready in a year, added MLA Lobo.
